Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, relaxing and deeply healing technique that can be used alone or in combination with

other techniques (kinesiotherapy, shiatsumassage, reiki, reflexology)

During the treatment the entire body is treated with a focus on the cranio, spine and sacrum, hence the name craniosacral.

The craniosacral system includes the mentioned bone structures on the outside and the brain and the spinal cord with its fluid (liquor cerebrospinalis) on the inside.

The free unfettered flow of the liquor and the movement of bone parts of the craniosacral system regulate numerous vitaly important bodily functions, growth and development, the functioning of the brain and the spinal cord. The liquor protects the brain and the spinal cord from blows and injuries, nourishes the brain and the spinal cord as well as the nerve endings that emerge along the spine.

The still point

Continuous discharge and absorbing of the liquor fluid causes rhythmic movement on the outside and back inside, like the tides. This movement is called the craniosacral rhythm and can be felt on the skull, along the spine and sacrum, but also on the bones, muscles and the connective tissue throughout the body. When the craniosacral system is full, the movement feels like expansion, increase and external rotation, and when more liquor flows out, it feels like reduction and internal rotation. Craniosacral pulsing rhythm is slower than the heart and breathing rate for about 6 to 12 times per minute in the cycle, and can also be found on a larger, wider area or on a narrowly limited area. Craniosacral rhythm can be powerful or quite gentle. It is important to pay attention on symmetry of palpation. Occasionally the craniosacral rhythm is silent and this phase is called the "still point" or the point of stillness. It takes 10 seconds to 4 minutes and is very useful because it allows the regeneration of the whole body. The rhythm of breathing slows down and deepens. The body temperature is lowered and deep relaxation happens at all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, which is the main goal of this therapy.

Each client is treated individually and is usually 6-12 treatments of 60-90 min are recommended. For balance and strengthening of the mechanism of self-regulation, and the positive effect on all levels the cycle can be repeated 2-3 times a year, but for the long-term effects it is necessary for the client to make a change in the daily life. The treatment is performed on a table (similar to a massage table) in a bright, quiet environment, and carefully chosen music further facilitates relaxation and this “journey to yourself".

In craniosacral therapy the therapist does nothing himself, he does not affect, but supports and monitors the client. His intent is to provide the client with enough space and time to relax. When the mind settles and emotions become clearer new insights can be received. The therapist follows the wisdom of the body and the client’s inner healer "PULSE OF LIFE".
